2013 FUNDING UPDATE

In 2013 Newman’s Own Foundation funded the priority areas of Nutrition, Children with Life Limiting Conditions and Empowerment. CanTeen, Fair Food Trust and KidsCan Charitable Trust received grants for much needed projects.

CanTeen’s mission is to support develop and empower young people living with cancer through a national peer support network and professional educational and recreational programs. CanTeen provides opportunities for approx 1,500 young cancer patients, their siblings and bereaved siblings to gain skills and learn to cope with the cards they have been dealt. Through CanTeen's programs they learn to re-establish their own identity and find a sense of normality in their lives. Visit www.canteen.org.nz

The Fair Food Trust based in Henderson, Auckland, is a food rescue initiative designed to simultaneously improve access to food for NZ communities in need and reduce food waste from businesses. The Trust’s overall aim is to connect those in the community who may be isolated, resource poor, disengaged, lonely, hungry and/or wanting to learn or share their skills. Visit www.mphs.org.nz

KidsCan Charitable Trust is based in Auckland and provides more than 32,000 meals a week for children with food insecurity. KidsCan’s mission is to meet the physical and nutritional needs of Kiwi kids less fortunate than others so they can be more engaged in their education and have a better chance of reaching their potential in life. After 30 years of dedicated service to Paul Newman’s Own and the Newman’s Own Foundation Sue Home is stepping into an honorary advisory role to the Newman’s Own Foundation in 2013.

Sue’s commitment has been outstanding and she has provided a vital link to New Zealand charities seeking funding from Newman’s Own since the products were first launched in Australia and New Zealand. Her efforts have helped to bring about Paul Newman’s vision of making our world a better place.
