Newman’s Own Foundation is a private, US-based independent foundation established in 2005 by the late actor and philanthropist, Paul Newman. The Foundation continues Paul’s commitment to making the world a better place by donating all profits and royalties earned from the sale of Paul Newman’s Own and Newman’s Own products to charity. To date over $540 million (USD) has been donated to thousands of charities around the world with over $22 million (USD) to New Zealand and Australian charities.

2019 Expression of Interest

Paul Newman believed that giving back is the greatest opportunity we have to make our world a better place. Newman’s Own Foundation supports organisations and programs that continue Paul’s legacy of giving and create opportunities for long-term impact.

The focus of the Newman’s Own Foundation 2019 New Zealand charity funding round is Nutrition.

Grant amounts between $25,000 – $50,000 NZD are available for registered charities from across New Zealand.

Applications close 4 March 2019.

This year we are specifically seeking expressions of interest (EOI) from organisations that have projects focusing on improving childhood nutrition. Projects could include initiatives such as school breakfast programs, food rescue and redistribution, nutrition education and better food security.

To help evaluate your EOI, please carefully read the following information and refer to the webpage “Charity – Criteria” for further guidelines.

Evidence of taxation deductibility: As the Foundation is bound by the requirements of the USA Department of Internal Revenue, EOIs will only be accepted from registered charitable organisations as per Charity Services, Department of Internal Affairs. If you are uncertain of your organisation’s tatus in this regard, your authorised representative can contact the New Zealand Charities Register on 0508 242 748.

Shortlist notification: Successful applicants will be notified by 17 May 2019 via email from Newman’s Own Foundation in the USA if their organisation has been shortlisted for the opportunity to apply for a grant and application documents will be forwarded electronically. They will need to complete the application and submit it with all relevant material by the 17th June 2019.

Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email before 17th June 2019. Please note that the final funding decisions are made in the USA and the Foundation does not enter into discussions regarding the selection process. Funds will be made available in October 2019.
